Here at Rivers Turn Kennel the
training approach is specific.
Training is customized for the individual dog’s needs and
the owner’s goals. Some dogs are obedient, having less drive
to retrieve. Some are stronger on land than on water. Other
dogs retrieve bumpers, but not birds. Our goal is to
reinforce strengths while identifying and addressing areas
for improvement.
Due to customer interest and involvement, both the UKC and
AKC hunt tests are a significant part of our training
program. I train and compete in UKC and AKC from the
beginner level through the Grand and Master levels.
I believe in using low-level pressure training methods and
building confidence in each dog. Through years of
experience, I’ve observed that dogs don’t all learn the same
way or respond to the same techniques. Skill repetition is
my training preference; this method allows the dog to
understand the skill, not respond to pressure. |
